Mayte Moran
Mayte Moran is a fourth-year undergraduate student at Western University (Canada), pursuing a degree in Nutrition and Families. Throughout her studies, she has become deeply interested in the social, cultural, and historical experiences that shape individual and family well-being. Moran is especially moved by how resilience is built within families and communities facing adversity.
She believes that studying historical experiences, especially those rooted in struggle and survival, is essential for fostering compassion and informed advocacy. Moran considers that joining the Surviving Memory research initiative represents an important step in both her academic and personal Growth, as the project offers a meaningful opportunity to expand knowledge while learning about a critical period in the history of El Salvador. She hopes to understand better how memory, survival, and resilience shape communities affected by conflict.
