Erik Ching

Erik Ching is a professor of Modern Latin American History at Furman University (US) with a research focus on El Salvador. He received his PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1997. He has authored or co-authored numerous books and articles on Salvadoran history, including “Stories of Civil War in El Salvador: A Battle Over Memory” (University of North Carolina Press, 2016). His work has been recognized by various awards, including Choice Magazine’s Outstanding Academic Title for “Stories of Civil War” in 2017. Ching is the co-founder, with Héctor Lindo Fuentes, of the El Salvador Studies Working Group, an online community of roughly 180 international scholars dedicated to researching El Salvador.
