Amaan Thawer
Amaan Thawer is an undergraduate Geology student at Western University, Canada. He was introduced to Surviving Memory through the field course “MIT 3955G" in El Salvador, led by professor Amanda Grzyb. This experience deeply moved him, as he witnessed the environmental activism of small communities and their daily struggles with environmental challenges. Amaan is passionate about Planetary Health, a field that studies the interconnectedness of Earth's systems and their impact on human health. Amaan is working with the Surviving Memory team on the digitization of the York University Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean's (CERLAC) archival collection of materials about El Salvador, including important documents from the Latin American Work Group (LAWG).
